Professor William Twining
William Twining is Quain Professor of Jurisprudence Emeritus at UCL. A pupil of both H.L.A. Hart and Karl Llewellyn, he has supported broader approaches to law and socio-legal studies in all of his work. His main interests are Jurisprudence, Globalisation and law, Law and Development, and the logic of proof . His recent books include Analysis of Evidence (2nd edition, 2005, with T. Anderson and D.Schum), Rethinking Evidence (2006), General Jurisprudence: Understanding Law from a Global Perspective (2009) and Human Rights: Southern Voices (forthcoming). At the start of his career he taught for seven years in Sudan and Tanzania and has maintained an interest in Eastern Africa ever since.
