Biography:
Naomi holds a PhD in political science; she also holds a BA and MPCM in International Relations and Public Relations. Her doctoral thesis investigates if a European public sphere, as manifested in the media of the United Kingdom, Germany and France, exists or is emerging. The formation or lack of formation of a European public sphere was analyzed as a function of identity and values at national and European levels that emerged in the public debate about the accession of Turkey to the European Union. Naomi joined the Centre in January 2010.
Current projects:
At Oxford, Naomi is working with Christopher Hodges on the Research Programme in European and Comparative Civil Justice Systems. Within the research branch on Alternative Dispute Resolution, Naomi has been mapping and evaluating the out-of-court settlement mechanisms (alternative dispute resolution: ADR) for civil justice in England and Wales. Such mechanisms include Ombudsmen, Tribunals, statutory and business schemes / codes as well as other ADR pathways. On EU level, the co-authored book: Consumer ADR in Europe describes in detail the different approaches to dispute resolution as well as coverage in 10 member states. This research is ongoing and aims to cover the remaining 17 member states.
Naomi has also done research on big case studies within the programmes class action/collective redress research branch.
