Biography:
Ben brings a broad disciplinary background to his work at the centre. Starting his university career as a philosophy student Ben pursued his interests across three of Cambridge’s university divisions before graduating with degrees in Natural Sciences and Sociology. His MPhil research thesis on the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2009 received a starred first and after undertaking professional legal training he has joined the Centre for Socio-Legal studies under a Freshfields Bruckhaus Derringer studentship to pursue his doctorate.
Ben’s research explores discontinuities in ‘human rights’ thought in Europe in the post-War era. His doctoral thesis will explore tensions in United Kingdom human rights discourse by situating past, present and proposed future legal developments within their contemporaneous domestic, international and philosophical political contexts.
