Biography
Binesh is reading for a DPhil in Socio-Legal Studies. His writings centre on theories of rights in constitutional settings. He teaches introductory and political philosophy at Birkbeck, University of London, and is currently Chief Editor of the Working Paper Series at Oxford Transitional Justice Research. He also co-convenes the Women’s Rights Research Seminars, which focusses interdisciplinary attention on the legal status of women in different political contexts. Beyond Oxford, he researches judicial review and democratic theory with Gregory Jones, QC at the Chambers of Robin Purchas, QC, and does consulting work for Article 19, a London-based NGO that works on freedom of expression and the rule of law. Binesh is a Doctoral Fellow of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, which supports his work at Oxford. He is based at Wadham College.
