Biography
Eric Ip is a Doctor of Philosophy (Socio-Legal Studies) candidate at the University of Oxford. He has completed advanced degrees at the University of Oxford and the University of London, and a first degree in political science and law at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has been a Teaching Fellow at the School of Public Policy, University College London (UCL), an Honorary Academic Tutor at St. John’s College, HKU, an Associate Editor of the peer-reviewed Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal (Hart Publishing), and a Research Intern at United Nations Brussels.
Eric’s research lies at the intersection of law, economics, and comparative government. His doctoral thesis examines the strategic interpretation of the Hong Kong Basic Law by the Chinese National People’s Congress Standing Committee and the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal from a comparative perspective. His recent publications have been accepted by or appeared in such journals as European Journal of Law and Economics, Constitutional Political Economy, Asian Journal of Law and Economics, International Journal of Constitutional Law, and Columbia Journal of Asian Law.
