Biography

Frances joined the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies after clerking for the Hon JJ Spigelman, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and teaching at UNSW Law School. She is a Commonwealth scholar at Corpus Christi College.

Frances’ DPhil project examines the operation of various governance mechanisms found in contemporary environmental regulation. In particular, Frances researches the regulation of the Murray-Darling Basin in Eastern Australia. Her work is interdisciplinary, drawing on, and seeking to contribute to, scholarship in regulation, public law and public administration. She has been a visiting scholar at Yale Law School and Reg-Net (Australian National University).
